Little G

So because it really is HER website: My baby. M: a big sis.

This is a bit out of order but a pain in the butt to move around on this laptop, so you get what you get:
Meet Dr Morris. I know a lot of people like/love their doctors. This woman will probably never understand quite just what she means to me. I actually get a little teary when I think about it. I know that's silly, but she kept me safe and she kept him safe and she cared while she was doing it. She comes in my room for rounds today and sits in the chair to "talk" to me. Like she's my friend. Who does that?! She also gives me a fair amount of crap- "Get over it- you have a perfectly healthy baby!" heh. She knows me all too well... By the way- his heart sounds perfect...
The three of us! Wow- I look quite a bit different from M's birth.
So I guess I forgot to post his name...heh. Griffn David is what we decided. Really I decided on this at about 28 weeks, but I couldn't ever get B to commit. We have a Big G in this fam, so this one is the little one! One of its meanings is "red" so it fits. We may end up calling him Fin- we'll see. Whatever you do, please don't refer to my son as "Griffy." Bad highschool memories...

So they laid him on me right away- he laid there for quite awhile until I couldn't stand not knowing how big he was! I can't believe he wasn't bigger!!!
I don't care how many times you have a baby- it is UNREAL that this thing just came out of your place.
So things were a little bumpy last night. G kept throwing up every time I laid him down. I started to get really nervous by morning. By about 11 pm he was eating GREAT about every 2 hours or more. Then he just started vomiting and acting like his tummy hurt. They kept assuring me that it was normal and fine, but you know me! Nothing like a little freak out about esophageal atresia to brighten your delirious night. He was peeing and pooping just fine though, so really I knew things were moving through. He quit eating overnight very well too- he would eat enough to keep his sugar up, but that's about it. I ended up only sleeping for about 2 hours though because he didn't puke if I held him upright on my chest, so that's what we did. I'm terribly exhausted today but can't seem to sleep. He has since quit vomiting since 8 am and has settled back into eating better. He really does great- I think he's eating me alive sometimes. I was hoping it wouldn't hurt as bad this time! AH! Maybe it won't hurt for as long....

G got circumcised this morning. He hated it. He was totally pissed for over a half an hour. I made B deal with it.
Daddy checking out his man:

I think he grew quite a bit cuter overnight. heh. I love him so much!! Yesterday I just felt so weird like I didn't know who's baby he was, but not mine! I couldn't figure it out! He's so sweet. I think he looks just like B. Starting to get a little yellow, but we had to take our bili blanket home last time, so it'll be nothing new if we do this time too. Dr M is pretty agressive in treating the jaundice. She doesn't screw around too much- one of the many reasons I love her.

I am totally sore today and I have petechiae all over my face and back. It's cute (for those who don't know it's burst blood vessles that look like little red dots). My arm and back muscles are killing me from pulling on the bed handles to push! Weak.

I felt a little sad this morning. Not really sure why- I think most likely it was a combo of no sleep, worrying about G, and hormones. I'm feeling better this afternoon. I miss M like nobody's business. She's with her Pepper today playing with the kids. I'm really not sure how my life ended up to be quite this good. Amazing isn't it??
Me and my babies: Wow that's a weird sounding thing to say...

Little Guy is here!!!

He arrived at 2:41 pm!!! After my last post things kinda went to lightening speed. He weighed 7 lbs 1 oz and is 19 1/2 inches long. HE HAS RED HAIR! What?! He came out and everyone said, "Who does he look like???" No one knows! So he still doesn't have a name- we're waiting for them to bring him back from his bath so we can examine him not all smushed up. Alright- more in a bit.

We're Here!

this will be short because I have a sat probe on my stupid finger and I can't type much and I'm laying down and can't see the keys!! We got here at 6 and got checked in. Did the IV thing- she had to dig around a bit, bu tI figure that's just because I do that on a daily basis to small children, so a bit of payback eh?? Started pit at 730, Dr M broke my water at 845. It started to kick my ass not long after that and I started to get that I can't do this feeling along with, I'd rather die. So we got an epidural around 1015 or so. I can still feel the contrax though which is kinda nice. Things are slow of course- still not much dilated 3 but he's pretty low they say- getting a nice cone head. Things should start picking up now. Alright this is annoying. More later.

My Peacock and the date is set!

B took these pictures yesterday. It seems M's hair has grown inches in the last week!! It now stands straight up sometimes when she wakes up. So cute!!So we set the date for tomorrow. I kinda hope he'll decide to come today on his own, but I doubt he will. There are a lot of factors that weigh into the decision, but I think we've made the right one for us. I completely trust Dr. Morris and I know she knows my fears inside and out. I have been assured that it will be ok. I'm going to see if I can take my mom's computer with us so we can update the blog frequently. I don't know if I'll be able to post pictures because in the past when I've loaded them directly from the camera to the blog (without saving on the computer first) it screws them up and then we loose the pic! Don't want that to happen.

We have to be at the hospital at 6 am! AH! It's starting to get a little more real. I actually did pack a bag today (heh) and I went out to Zona Rosa and bought some new nursing bras which are in the wash. I need to do a couple of loads of laundry today and get everything caught up. I think we're ready. Mom is going to spend the night here and then stay with M tomorrow until he arrives. M will go to Pepper's for the rest of the week I think.

I am very excited to meet him. I can't wait to find out what his name is, who he looks like, and be assured that he really is healthy. I know that last part probably isn't on most moms' lists of things that make them feel better after birth, but in my situation, I need to listen to his heart and not hear the whoosh. How big will he be? Will he be Mexican like M was? Bald?? I have no idea. There is a slight sense of sadness in having him. I feel a little sense of losing something with M. I hate that I won't be able to cater to her every need anymore as immediately as she'll wish for me to. I won't be able to focus on her like I'd like to. I've also heard from my friend Katie though that watching your first born react to a sibling makes it all worth it. I am hoping M will be as sweet as she is with the younger baby at Pepper's.
Here are the Smith's one day before there are four! Warning: after we get home www.mirabrooke.blogspot.com will permanently change to www.littlesmiths.com! Be prepared!

I made it!

Well, I successfully made it through my two last 12 hour shifts! Yesterday I think the charge nurse tried to kill me. One of my patients was NOT cooperating with life and I really only sat down for about one total hour in the 13 I was at work. I got some red wine on the way home and drank a glass and had a warm bath. I thought if nothing else it would help me relax enough to sleep well, but no luck. Today was better, but I'm pretty exhausted tonight. It's weird when it's your last day for awhile. Work is a very big social outlet- most of the girls/guys I work with are right around my age and we're all pretty close. It's hard to not see everyone for awhile!! I really like a lot of the people who work weekends though, so even though it was really tough to be there, I was glad my last two days were with some of my closest friends. They had a little party for me today- we ordered out Panera, had a cake, and everyone brought little gifts- unnecessary, but very sweet just the same!

Sounds like B and M had a pretty good weekend. It sucks that it was so nice this weekend- it's almost like it didn't really happen because I didn't experience any of it! He took a couple of pics but I don't have the energy for that right now.

Tomorrow we see Dr. M in the morning....stay tuned!
